Rules -> Dress code

Dress code

Our clothing rules are fairly simple. We will apply three rules strictly:

  • We do not allow professional competition clothing.
    (Professionally) tailor-made pants, tops, skirts and dresses are forbidden. Home-made dresses are allowed, as long as they are not professionally made, and relatively simple. As to glitter, we noticed that most prêt-a-porter gala gowns have some glass beads or other glitter on them. Therefore, we will allow glitter, as long as the rest of the dress looks like a 'normal' (gala)dress.
  • It is not allowed to wear a skirt in which your underwear (or what should be covered by it) is visible while dancing.
    Please make sure your skirt is long enough when spinning! Otherwise, wear hot pants underneath.
  • The dance floor may only be entered while wearing dance shoes, so please no regular shoes. Furthermore, heel protectors are obligatory for lady's shoes with thin heels.

The following advises are not strict rules, but recommended:

  • For ladies in the ballroom: a skirt or dress that at least covers the knees, preferably ankle length and a top. Bare arms are allowed.
  • Gents in the ballroom: long trousers with a top or shirt with long sleeves.
  • Gents in the Latin: long trousers and a shirt that covers at least the shoulders.

The decision whether or not dancers adhere to the dress code is made by the organizing committee. If the participants fail to comply with the supervisor's instructions, they can be excluded from the tournament.
